Summary

Your inventory is created for your own use on your device. Apple services may process data only when you use an Apple-managed capability such as optional personal iCloud sync, device backup, Photos, camera, speech recognition, printing, or the system share sheet.

Data stored by the app

ToteTally can store the information you choose to enter, including:

• Location, container, and item names and notes
• Container style, color, number, and QR label identifiers
• Optional photos you select or capture
• Optional revisit dates and reminder preferences
• Portable backup files you create

The local inventory is stored using Apple’s on-device data technologies. Photo files are kept in the app’s private storage. This data remains on your device until you edit it, erase the inventory, delete the app, or otherwise manage it through Apple’s device controls.

Optional personal iCloud sync

When iCloud is available for your Apple Account, ToteTally may keep a private snapshot of your inventory and its photo assets in Apple CloudKit. This supports personal recovery and use across your own Apple devices. The app remains usable offline when iCloud is unavailable.

CloudKit and iCloud are operated by Apple and are governed by your Apple Account settings and Apple’s privacy terms. ToteTally does not operate a separate sync server. Personal iCloud sync does not provide household invitations or shared access with other people.

Apple-controlled iCloud device backups are separate from ToteTally’s personal CloudKit snapshot. Because the app cannot verify that a device backup completed, portable export remains the recovery copy you can create and keep yourself.

Permissions and Apple features

ToteTally asks for access only when you choose a feature that needs it:

• Photos: to choose optional images for containers or items, or select a QR image.
• Camera: to photograph stored items or scan a ToteTally QR label.
• Microphone and speech recognition: while you choose to speak a list of items. The app requests on-device recognition; availability depends on Apple and your language settings.
• Notifications: to deliver optional local revisit reminders you schedule.
• Photo-library saving: when you ask to save an exported label or image.

You can deny or later change these permissions in iOS Settings. Core inventory, editing, and text search do not require photo, camera, microphone, or notification access.

Exports, QR labels, printing, and sharing

When you export a backup, print a QR label, save an image, or use Apple’s share sheet, you decide where the resulting file goes. The destination app, person, printer, or storage provider handles that copy under its own practices.

A ToteTally QR label contains an opaque container identifier, not the item list. It opens a matching container only where that inventory already exists through local restore or personal sync. Sharing or exporting a label is not household-access sharing.

This website

This static website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, accounts, forms, or a customer database. Standard network information needed to deliver the site—such as an IP address, request path, timestamp, and browser information—may be processed by Cloudflare as the hosting and security provider.

Your choices and data recovery

• View, edit, or delete inventory inside ToteTally.
• Use the app offline without creating an app-specific account.
• Change Apple permissions in iOS Settings.
• Export a complete portable backup from Settings → Export and Restore.
• Erase the device inventory from ToteTally Settings after exporting anything you want to keep.
• Manage iCloud data and device backups through your Apple Account settings.

Copies you exported or shared remain wherever you chose to save or send them. ToteTally cannot delete those external copies for you.

Policy changes

If the app’s data practices materially change, this page will be updated before the new practice is described as current. The effective date at the top identifies this version.
