1. Record the item before it disappears
Start with the item name that you would actually search for: cable pouch. Add the details that separate this piece from a similar one rather than writing a vague note such as “miscellaneous.”
- Record the quantity, size, color, model, or set name when it matters.
- Note the condition or the repair that should happen before reuse.
- Keep a photo of the grouped item and its identifying detail.
2. Give it a physical home

3. Use a label that survives a move
A plain label can start with “Travel / cable pouch.” Add a number or stable identifier when several containers hold similar items. The label should help a person choose the right container before opening it.

4. Decide when the record should be checked
